The home stretch.

Just nine more outfits to go!
What a fabulous Monday. Filled with its annoyances, true, but it was nonetheless rockin'.

Today, we tried out The Circuit's (our broadcast class that does my high school's daily live announcements) studio for the backdrop of our photo shoot. And some lovely shots came out of it, I must say:

I think Brown should seriously consider using this picture for advertising.

Oh, God. I'm never showing this to my mom.

Oscar Fashion, baby.

Sunday, February 27, 2011 § 0

And don't forget the brinner.  For Oscar night tonight, the sister thought it would be nice to have pancakes for dinner, and she was right!  It was delish.

I love watching the Oscars because it brings out so many things in me.  For one, the fashionista.  My family gets so annoyed with me because I'll start shouting at Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana Rancic as they critique some of my favorite gowns.  If I'm being honest, it also brings out the dreamer in me.  That may be cheesy, but when I see the screenwriter category come up on the screen, when I see them accept their award, I can't help thinking that that could very easily be me someday.  I've got the biggest drive to be an established writer, but I don't really know where that's going to take me.  It could take me the magazine route, it could take me the novelist route, and with any luck,  it could take me the screenwriter route.  I don't know yet, but I can't wait to find out!

However, fashion is still one of my favorite parts of the entire thing.  I love all of the gowns and the jewels and the hair and my favorite celebs looking fierce like they always do.  Here are the nominees for Best Oscar Outfit According to Cooper:

Hailee Steinfeld, looking amazing in a Marchesa gown that she helped design! God, I love this girl.

Mila Kunis, looking sexy and comfortable in Elie Saab

Mandy Moore looking STUNNING in Monique Lhullier

Amy Adams, literally dazzling in L'Wren Scott

Cate Blanchett looking like a work of art in Givency (this is the dress my sister claims she would wear if she ever went to the oscars).

ScarJo looking sexy fine in Dolce (and it's suprising, too! Usually she's very va-va-voom!)

Anne Hathaway in vintage Valentino.  When will she ever not be on this list?

Wow. This is a tough decision.....

So I won't make it.  The oscar goes to all of them.

If there's anything that I've learned from tonight, it's that with a little bit of courage and a whole lotta fashion sense, you too can get to the oscars.  Oh, and that I really need to work on my girl crush on Hailee Steinfeld.  It's getting out of hand.

A day thriftin', a rule broken.

Saturday, February 26, 2011 § 3

Yes, yes I realize I broke the no-shopping rule.  I feel like it almost shouldn't count, however, since my purchase was only four dollars at the local Goodwill.

AND I did not plan to buy the top, SO THERE.  Me and the sister went thrift store hopping today in search for pieces for her upcoming school fashion show (she's a fashion merchandising major), where she will be dressing her models up as flowers, and I could not pass that excellent deal up.

Here is a little ditty I made about our day of secondhand wonderment:

And here's my TWENTIETH outfit in my 30x30! Hooray!

Simple minded.

Friday, February 25, 2011 § 0

As you can see, I wasn't feeling all that creative this morning.
However, I promised myself to step it up here in the last stretch of my 30x30, and you will see a whole lot more of my crazy red tights and my sky-high buns, I assure you! And I'll try not to wear my pink scarf so much. Those are my end stretch resolutions. Despite my boring ensemble, I had a nice day. Government quiz went by like a breeze and I found out I didn't have to retake my test after all. Thank the lordy! I came home to the Mamas suprising me with an offer for a dinner date, just us gals, and we went to Olive Garden and talked about boys, boys, boys (oh, how I love my mother). Now, we're spending the evening in front of the TV, stuffing our faces with ice cream. It's gonna be a good night, I can tell already.

Happy Friday,
Cooper

Repeat Offender? Not quite.

Thursday, February 24, 2011 § 0

Yes, yes, I know this outfit looks suspiciously akin to my valentine's day outfit, but I promise, I'ts got it's differences! In fact, now that I look at the picture, the only things really the same are the shoes and the jacket. So, HA!

Today was such a blah day. I think by the time I get my Government test (and quiz...*sob*) retakes out of the way and the big wonderful mess of the yearbook gets done, I'll feel a million times better, but for now it's just nice to wallow in sadness.

Do you ever notice that? I mean, it's terrible to want to be sad and all that jazz but sometimes I honestly feel like instead of cheering myself up, I just want to sit around and stay melancholy (word of the day, Brownie!) instead of laughing my troubles away.

Geez louise, someone hide the razorblades! I think maybe what I'm getting at is that it's just harder to be happy when you're sad, which brings around a big, resounding DUH to mind. I will try to get through the awful stress monster of tomorrow (sheesh, I'm going to look back on this and thank the lordy I didn't grow up to be as big a drama queen as I am now) and be on my way to having a splendid weekend.

And you should, too!!!

She's a brick....HOUSE

Wednesday, February 23, 2011 § 0

Loving this outfit today, I must say.
I actually did not feel too simple or too anything today. I felt quite nice. That is, until I got my government test grade back. That was not so nice.

I feel bad since I was kind of a jerk face to my friends that got higher grades than me, but I hate feeling stupid. Every time we take a test like that and I have to sit around, listening to people go on and on about how easy it was for them...it makes me mad. I didn't think it was easy, and I ended up feeling like a giant idiot.

Excuse the ranting. All I have to do is give myself a mini-pep talk about how I'm good at other things. WRITING, Madi! YEARBOOK! MAKING PANCAKES!

So we had a fun little photo shoot in Commercial Photography for our portraits project. Here are some of the ones the endlessly talented Brittany Morehead took of me:

She loved this plastic bag....
There are actually a lot of me playing with it.

And some by the lovely Magdalene Molhoek:

You only wish you were surrounded by awesome photographers like I am!

Bragging over.  Goodbye.  Have a lovely Wednesday.

Because of the 70 degree and up weather, I have decided to swap my never-worn ivory chunky-knit sweater from Target for this black pencil skirt. And I think it works- I realized I have something I can actually wear all my pairs of tights with!

Photos courtesy of the lovely and talented Brittany Morehead.  Here stands me and Brown, my genius advisor, who is also partaking in the 30 for 30 remix.  This is us posing in an awkward manner (or, really, just how we pose in our normal life).  I like how my face is ten times more creepy than hers.

SOOOOO in other news, I saw Moulin Rouge for the first time this weekend.  I know, I know, I'm way behind since I grew up in the 2000's and whatnot.
And GUESS WHAT- I loved it.  The soundtrack reminds me of my childhood, how the sis and I used to make up dances to 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend' and 'Lady Marmalade' (I would always be Christina Aguilera, of course).  It was weird, no doubt, but Ewan McGregor is adorable and Nicole Kidman is gorgeous and the songs are wonderful and I just...loved everything.  Except the ending.

I just love movies.  I'm such a nerd when it comes to good ones: I'll watch them over and over and over and over again.  I must warn Shannon (bestie and future roomie) of this.  Hopefully she will still want to share an abode with me.

Happy Monday,
Cooper

Well, she was an American girl....

Friday, February 18, 2011 § 0

We had an impromptu photo shoot while my photos were uploading in yearbook.
Did I mention that my Creative Director of Photography is highly talented?
Sorry you can't see my red shoes in this pic (I swapped my black and pink ones in my 30 for these red ones, seen in the last picture).

Alas, the red shoes!

So, tonight was my friend's birthday party, and we went out to Buca's with her family, her boyfriend, the bestie and her boyfriend (yes, I went stag).  Thinking we would not do anything active afterwards, I wore my nice taupe wedges.

We ended up doing laser-tag.

Oh, well.  I was worried about it, but those heels are so crazy comfortable that it hardly mattered.  And I POWNED all the little kids in tennis shoes (well, I got ninth place, but still).

Happy Friday, everyone!

"Become the light."
-Rumi

I need to count how many outfits I've done so far.

§ 0

Well, it's Thursday, and here it is:
I call this the 'leftover' outfit. I had this crazy ambitious outfit on this morning, but when I came downstairs the mamas shot it down. Of course, I take everything she says about what I wear to heart, and changed with the speed of light before heading out. I should have just gone for it, but there's always next week, right?

Today was one of those weird days. I just feel like I wasn't myself today. I made tons of mistakes and made people angry and made myself angry and absorbed people's emotions like a sponge. It's just....one of those days.
Oh, well. My leftover outfit was nice, I think. I don't even care that I wore the same scarf two days in a row!

Had a productive workday today, as you can see:

Diet Coke makes the world go 'round.

Something fun that happened today:

My best friend's boyfriend hatched a master plan to ask her to prom, enlisting me as the photographer.  He waltzed into our Government class with guys playing love songs on an ipod speaker and a handful of balloons, dressed to the nines.  This is a picture of him asking, and her saying yes!

They're the sweetest.

Wah-Wednesday.

My denim shirt makes me happy. I feel like it's 1995 again!
I feel as though everyone should invest in a pink scarf. I'm telling you, it goes with EVERYTHING.
If you could hear me talk right now, you would hear a 60-year-old man addicted to smoking....I have had this terrible cough lately and it's ridden me of my voice much akin to Ursula taking Ariel's! (Okay, so that was a little more dramatic). Despite the lost voice, me getting cut off by stupid teenagers in a gas station parking lot this morning, running out of water and having to sit through an intense club meeting with a parched throat...it's been an okay day. It's one of those days where, if you didn't have a good outlook, it would be terrible. But I did have a good outlook. So it was nice!

Tuesday's Outfit.

§ 0

So, 30 for 30 has made me realized just how into simplicity I am. Which is fine, since I've got plenty of time to accessorize and whatnot. However, even though this outfit may feel a bit bland, I felt so awesome in it! It's the most comfortable thing (the shirt does have POCKETS, after all) and it's very me.

Lovin' it.

Valentine's Day Dinner.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011 § 0

I'm going to be posting my 30 for 30 outfits a little bit out of order this week, just a heads up.  I'll start with my valentine's day dinner outfit for a night out on the town with the folks (which is what we do every year since neither Molly nor I have boyfriends, not that I'm complaining).
 V-neck: Old Navy
Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Target
Tights: Target
Hair: Is finally looking manageable.  Finally.

The pops and Molly, getting ready to go out....

Aren't we a sight?  There ain't no greater love than a family's.

Happy late Valentine's day, everyone!
