The final day. Yay!

Saturday, March 12, 2011 § 0

Here's my second to last one, worn whilst shopping for Farm attire....
I love this bag I'm toting, by the way. I've taken it everywhere with me- vacations, school functions, and it's even got a little paint stain from when I painted my senior parking spot. Love it.
And...drumroll please......
Ta-daaaa!  It's my final outfit.  I must remember that this hairstyle makes my face look nice...I never wear it like this.  I wore this for an outing with the fam to Chipotle, where I got stuffed to the brim.

And it's over! Sadness, but also relief.  I can finally wear my green maxidress again, and my bright pink skirt.  And all my pairs of crappy, discolored flats.  YIPEE!

Goodbye, 30 for 30.  We will meet again!

Finally! IT'S DONE!

Friday, March 11, 2011 § 0

The yearbook, not my 30 for 30. However, I am close to being done, with only two outfits left to go!!!
You heard me right- the yearbook is finally completely finished. The book's gone by so fast, but I'm so proud of what it's become and equally proud of my staff. Most of them.
Here's a few pictures from our celebratory last page submission party:

From left to right: Bri, student activities editor, Mickey, photo editor, Skyler, last year's editor in chief, and me, this year's editor in chief!

So glad she could come for the submission of the book.  She made it ten times more special.

My mentor, my rock, pretty much the smartest and greatest person ever...my advisor, Brownie.

WE DID IT!

Another crazy day.

Thursday, March 10, 2011 § 0

And with the yearbook due in one day, how could it not be? We've all been running around like chickens with our heads cut off, but chickens that know about journalism and are damn good at it, too. So, I guess chicken bodies with smarts?
It's yearbook week. I don't have to make sense.

My 30 for 30 is winding down, and I must say, I've learned a few things.
1. I love me some pants. I used to think that all I ever wanted to wear were skirts, but I love me some pantalones. It's become obvious.
2. I wear a lot of very similar colors. Black, reds, blues, neutrals. I gotta get some pink into my wardrobe.
3. I need more nude colored flats. Ones that aren't high-heeled. I'm going to college soon, for heaven's sakes.
4. And lastly, that it actually is possible for me to get creative with my outfits. I'm...*sniff*..so proud of myself.

Moment over. Back to stressing.

So long!

Amateur hour

Wednesday, March 9, 2011 § 0

Ah, we can't all be professional photographers. However, I think my counter and 10-second-timer option on my camera did quite well, don't you?

I had this polka-dot blouse tucked in today, but when I got home it was bothering me so much that I couldn't bring myself to tuck it back in, even for a quick picture. Today has been so crazy, what with yearbook and physics tests and math quizzes and headaches galore (and did I mention yearbook?) that I toppled onto the couch as soon as I got home. However, I gotta give a shout out to my right-hand girls, Maggie and Bri, who organized and planned and did all sorts of stuff since I wasn't able to be pulled out of class today, and got a bajillion things done without me.   Love them.

So, I finally watched Raiders of the Lost Arc, and I must say, Harrison Ford was looking pretty fine for an older man. Basically, I loved it.  I especially loved Karen Allen's character, Marion.  She's so fiesty!  Not only that, but she has a spectacular wardrobe:

Her and Indy make a lovely couple.  I mean, who could resist that face:

Happy Wednesday,

IT'S YEARBOOK DAY

Tuesday, March 8, 2011 § 0

Today was a rather crazy day. The entire yearbook is due on Friday and we've still got a million and one things to do. Brown got all of the editors out of class today so we could park our boo-tangs in front of the giant computer screens and stay there until at least a million and one things got done.

It's a crazy week. It's a crazy day. I just can't wait for it all to be over and for me to be in the car, heading down to the farm for Spring break, knowing that I don't have to stress my head off anymore.

On the bright side, I'm halfway through my remix.  Yipee!!! I mean, just look at how happy I am:

Happy Tuesday,

Yesterday.

§ 0

Didn't have time to write on my pic, so here's what I wore:

Forever 21 Blazer
JC Penney Gingham shirt
Old Navy Jeans
Target Boots

This outfit was inspired by the host of Secrets of a Stylist on HGTV.  She be workin' that gingham with a blazer:

my interpretation:

I loved my braid.

Happy Tuesday!

Don't I look just...smart? That's what my mom says when she doesn't like an outfit of mine. She says I look 'smart'. As if you really ever want to look smart.
Unless you're in a library. Or any type of government office. Ok, never mind: anywhere other than the club, it's good to look smart. So, thanks, mom?
I had the greek princess Maggie Molhoek take my picture today, and she did such a bang-up job. I love her. She often puts inspirational videos on my facebook wall, which is nice.

As you can see, I wore my taupe heels for the second time in a row this week.  Fashion faux pas? I think not.  This outfit would literally not go with anything else except my boots (which is a classic lazy Cooper outfit) and maybe my oxfords...but I went safe with it.  AND I mastered driving with heels on.  Watch out, world.

Oh, and this is my 'watch out world' picture to go with the phrase.

So long,

Grassy knoll.

I felt quite dapper in my bow blouse today.
I knew that I hadn't worn these wedges in a while, and therefore decided to wear them today. I think in these last few outfits I'm going to try to incorporate things I've only worn once so far or hardly at all. That means I've got to stop with the pants for, like, two days. At least.

What can I say? I love me some pantalones.

As always, we got a little crazy during our shoot today (as always done by the lovely Brittany Morehead):

Part 2 of me on the zamboni-looking thing.  I have an obsession.

I....don't remember how this one came about.

Brown being silly.  As always!

PORTRAITS

And we finish it off with what Brown calls my 'yearbook face'.

I hope you all had a lovely Wednesday.  I'm going to go cook up some mac and cheese and contemplate getting on the treadmill. We'll see how it goes.

The home stretch.

Monday, February 28, 2011 § 0

Just nine more outfits to go!
What a fabulous Monday. Filled with its annoyances, true, but it was nonetheless rockin'.

Today, we tried out The Circuit's (our broadcast class that does my high school's daily live announcements) studio for the backdrop of our photo shoot. And some lovely shots came out of it, I must say:

I think Brown should seriously consider using this picture for advertising.

Oh, God. I'm never showing this to my mom.

A day thriftin', a rule broken.

Saturday, February 26, 2011 § 3

Yes, yes I realize I broke the no-shopping rule.  I feel like it almost shouldn't count, however, since my purchase was only four dollars at the local Goodwill.

AND I did not plan to buy the top, SO THERE.  Me and the sister went thrift store hopping today in search for pieces for her upcoming school fashion show (she's a fashion merchandising major), where she will be dressing her models up as flowers, and I could not pass that excellent deal up.

Here is a little ditty I made about our day of secondhand wonderment:

And here's my TWENTIETH outfit in my 30x30! Hooray!

Simple minded.

Friday, February 25, 2011 § 0

As you can see, I wasn't feeling all that creative this morning.
However, I promised myself to step it up here in the last stretch of my 30x30, and you will see a whole lot more of my crazy red tights and my sky-high buns, I assure you! And I'll try not to wear my pink scarf so much. Those are my end stretch resolutions. Despite my boring ensemble, I had a nice day. Government quiz went by like a breeze and I found out I didn't have to retake my test after all. Thank the lordy! I came home to the Mamas suprising me with an offer for a dinner date, just us gals, and we went to Olive Garden and talked about boys, boys, boys (oh, how I love my mother). Now, we're spending the evening in front of the TV, stuffing our faces with ice cream. It's gonna be a good night, I can tell already.

Happy Friday,
Cooper

Repeat Offender? Not quite.

Thursday, February 24, 2011 § 0

Yes, yes, I know this outfit looks suspiciously akin to my valentine's day outfit, but I promise, I'ts got it's differences! In fact, now that I look at the picture, the only things really the same are the shoes and the jacket. So, HA!

Today was such a blah day. I think by the time I get my Government test (and quiz...*sob*) retakes out of the way and the big wonderful mess of the yearbook gets done, I'll feel a million times better, but for now it's just nice to wallow in sadness.

Do you ever notice that? I mean, it's terrible to want to be sad and all that jazz but sometimes I honestly feel like instead of cheering myself up, I just want to sit around and stay melancholy (word of the day, Brownie!) instead of laughing my troubles away.

Geez louise, someone hide the razorblades! I think maybe what I'm getting at is that it's just harder to be happy when you're sad, which brings around a big, resounding DUH to mind. I will try to get through the awful stress monster of tomorrow (sheesh, I'm going to look back on this and thank the lordy I didn't grow up to be as big a drama queen as I am now) and be on my way to having a splendid weekend.

And you should, too!!!

She's a brick....HOUSE

Wednesday, February 23, 2011 § 0

Loving this outfit today, I must say.
I actually did not feel too simple or too anything today. I felt quite nice. That is, until I got my government test grade back. That was not so nice.

I feel bad since I was kind of a jerk face to my friends that got higher grades than me, but I hate feeling stupid. Every time we take a test like that and I have to sit around, listening to people go on and on about how easy it was for them...it makes me mad. I didn't think it was easy, and I ended up feeling like a giant idiot.

Excuse the ranting. All I have to do is give myself a mini-pep talk about how I'm good at other things. WRITING, Madi! YEARBOOK! MAKING PANCAKES!

So we had a fun little photo shoot in Commercial Photography for our portraits project. Here are some of the ones the endlessly talented Brittany Morehead took of me:

She loved this plastic bag....
There are actually a lot of me playing with it.

And some by the lovely Magdalene Molhoek:

You only wish you were surrounded by awesome photographers like I am!

Bragging over.  Goodbye.  Have a lovely Wednesday.
