What the hell am I wearing right now?

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 § 0

That's right.  After spending my entire high school existence silently lecturing girls for wearing leggings as pants, I have contradicted myself.
But they're just so damn COMFORTABLE.  And I promise you, I only wear them to the dining hall.  That's my leggings radius.

I think I redeemed myself, though.  Today I bought the CUTEST oxfords on eBay:

I'm obsessed with that tiny heel.  I can't wait to get them in.

Well, tonight, I've got quite the exciting night planned.  I've got to finish my FAFSA and my Astronomy homework, and then maybe (just maybe) I'll eat some Skinny Cow dreamy clusters.

Au revoir,
Cooper

I just downloaded this album and it is INCREDIBLE.

And now you should go download it, too.

Kay. Bye.

I am in a coffee shop....

And I am drinking hot chocolate.
(I like to think this picture is only slightly awkward).

I haven't been to Old Town Fort Collins in SO long.  Now that I'm back, I realized it's been too, too long.  I love it down here.  Plus, they're setting up an ice rink.  Like, seriously? How could it get better?

I need to drive down here more often, or maybe ride my bike next weekend.  I took a bike ride yesterday, but it was just around campus.  Needless to say, it was still great.

Hope you're having a lovely Monday,
Cooper

I did it! Sort of.

Today, I achieved something that I've been wanting to for a long time.  I climbed the rock wall at my gym!

My friend Rose always pesters me to go with her, but I always say no- rock climbing takes an immense amount of upper body strength that I just do not have.  I have always wanted to do it, though, but I guess I have this fear of being judged or watched by the professional climbers (who are ALWAYS hanging around) so I've always said no.  Today, however, she finally said something that convinced me.  I realized that I didn't want to go home saying that I never tried anything new and that I never faced my (albeit irrational) fears.

So I did it!  And okay, I almost didn't past the belaying certification test (which is ridiculous because it is literally the easiest test in the world, but I just got so nervous) and I only made it a little more than halfway up the easiest wall (the 5.5) but STILL!  It's an accomplishment even for me, and Rose said that that is good for my first try, anyway, so I'll take what I can get.  I belayed for her the rest of the time, which is really relaxing and also a good way to get an arm workout, but you have to be attentive and not easily distracted.  So, hard for me (haha).

So though it was incredibly hard, I look forward to getting better and better and maybe tackling some 5.9s soon!

Blazer.

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 § 1

As you probably already realized from my last blog post, I absolutely loved Ginnifer Goodwin's outfits on Sunday night's episode of Once Upon a Time, especially this one:

BUT sadly I realized that I don't own any adorable blazers (the only blazers I do have are at home in Texas, grrr).  So what did I do, you ask?  Well, I scoured the local Goodwill on a Wednesday night for some finds, and boy did I find things.  The Goodwill near my school is so amazing, probably because all the cool college kids drop off their old digs, and I ended up finding an adorable long blazer in a similar camel color:
Here's the deal: first of all, it's got shoulder pads (which my sister says I should keep in but I'm not so sure) and second of all, where's my elbow patches???  It looks like I'm going to have to sew them on myself but to me, that sounds like a perfect weekend project.

I am just LOVIN on Goodwill tonight.  I even found a 'j'adore Paris' t-shirt in the men's section for a dollar.  AWESOME.

Have a smashing night,
Cooper

The hat.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 § 0

My friend Rose knit me this hat over the weekend.  We joke about it being the 'pot' hat because the yarn I picked out has all these green fuzzies, so it basically looks like I'm wearing mary jane.

Stoner hat or not, I still love it.  Plus, ever since Sunday night's episode of Once Upon a Time when Ginnifer Goodwin rocked the pixie cut + beanie look pretty much the entire episode:

...I've been tucking my hair into my beanie.  It's like a faux pixie cut; totally a fun look to rock.

Have a great Tuesday night!

Battle of the Glasses.

Monday, January 23, 2012 § 0

It surprises me how much I actually waste time thinking about it, but I do....glasses, or no glasses?

Only someone who wears frames really understands the battle us four-eyed females have with our most important accessory.  Every morning when I get up I ask myself, 'Is today a glasses day?'.  On special days, like for example, my first day of college, one of the first things I decided was, 'Okay, I'm not wearing glasses today.  I want people to notice me without them.'

For me at least, it's like having a mole on your back or a scar on your knee- you don't want to show it until people really know you.  I've recently climbed out of my glasses-shell and have gotten more and more comfortable with wearing them in public.  It's not like I think they're ugly or anything, but I wonder if they change the way people look at me...do they make me more or less approachable?  Do they make me more or less attractive to the opposite sex?

I guess this kind of problem is pretty narcissistic, but I would be lying if I said I never thought about it.

Anyone else have this dilemma?

Have a smashing day,
Cooper

Lazy, lazy weekend.

Saturday, January 21, 2012 § 0

So far, it's been relaxing...okay, yeah, a better word for that would be lazy.  But I like it.  It's been a hectic, stressful week, and it's nice to have a few days to wind down from all of that.

Last night, I went and got fast food (a low point in my health regime, but let's not dwell on that, hmm?) and had a 'me' night.  I sat in front of the TV and watched Indiana Jones, and then I wrote a little and watched some Netflix in bed (an activity far superior to breakfast in bed).

Today, I watched TV, got some groceries, read John Green's The Fault in Our Stars, and came home...and watched more TV.

I'm telling you, everyone needs a 'me' weekend just as much as they need a 'treat 'choself' weekend.

This has been a pointless post.
(me reppin my weekend uniform- Colo State sweatshirt and black leggings.)

Back to school blues.

Just sittin' here, eating my Skinny Cow dreamy clusters (SO good) and NAHT wanting to go to class.  That's right, I spelled it NAHT.

This semester already proves to be challenging.  There's extensive textbook use in all my classes and already I'm bogged down with homework.  I'm trying not to get stressed out of my mind.

Textbooks are expensive, y'all.  I HATEZ it so much that I'm using ridiculous words like HATEZ.

UGGGGHHHHH.

In other news, I have a new vlog out.  Check it out by clicking on 'my vlog' in the top right corner.

Also, I started a new Tumblr!  It's a reading/writing/movies based blog and you all should go follow it if that floats your boat.  I'm loving posting on it so far.

Well, hope you're having a better Wednesday than I am!

Hot cocoa and Branson, Missouri.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 § 0

Well, I just made myself a cup of delicious hot cocoa in our hotel room- which is GAWGEOUS.  My dad's friend has a timeshare out here on this resort and so we got to stay in this adorable room.  Our room is like a little apartment- next to my sister and I's bed is a mini-kitchen, and, one of the best parts, a TV fully equipped with 4 HBO channels.  I swear, I'm in heaven.

This place is so adorable, too- it's decorated like a country cottage.  Can you see the deer's head behind me? (Ok, I do admit, all the deer heads around here freak me out a little.  They're just....looking at me....)

But all in all, this place is great.  Yesterday, we spent the day on a boat:

(actually they call it the Party Barge, HEY-OH!)

So we're obviously having a great time.

Well, until tomorrow! Hope you all are having a fantastic new year.

(P.S.: who new Arkansas was so hella beautiful?)

Addicted.

Wednesday, January 4, 2012 § 0

Today I went to Forever 21.  Yesterday I went to Forever 21.  Yeah, I would say that I'm obsessed.

A little tip if you've never been there- you HAVE to have a plan!  The first day I went in not knowing what I want and therefore I bought something completely out of the ordinary- a hat!  It became a treat 'choself day (cue Donna from Parks and Recreation), meaning that I bought that hat without feeling guilty about it.  Yep.  Deal with it, self.
I actually LOVE it.  I want to wear it all the time, even with my PJs.  In fact, I think I'll go put it on now.

And then today, I tried something on as a joke and ended up buying it because I felt so ethereal in it.  It's a white asymmetrical dress, and it's a little bit sheer so I'll have to wear a slip...but it's something I'm having second thoughts about because I'm not sure if I can dress it down or not!

We'll see. Have a merry, merry Thursday!

Have you guys read this yet?

Sunday, January 1, 2012 § 0

It was such an amazing book.  I can only imagine how amazing it would be if they made it into a movie....and I only say that because of how vivid and beautiful the descriptions were!  Made me want to literally go to the Night Circus.

READ THIS PLEASE.  The end.

AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

§ 0

I'm finally all caught up with my events!  New Year's was last night (and an auld lang syne to you too, if that makes any sense), and here's what I decided to wear:

And voila!  A look complete for a wonderful new year's.

HAPPY 2012!

Christmas, Christmas...

§ 0

I know that it's passed already, but why not reverse the end-of-holidays gloom by providing you with some crazy pictures of my family on Christmas Eve and morn?

This is a game my Grandma has....it was actually pretty hilarious.

Cheesecake. Yum.

Is it a spoon, though? Is it???

Yep. I get stuck with all the paper.

My dad preparing for the Polar Bear Plunge...

Yep.  It's damn freezing outside, too.

And I said I would do it next year.  What is wrong with me??

Merry Christmas!

Stop taking pictures and get down to business.

My family really loves this movie...

Really...really loves it....

IT'S A GREAT MOVIE OKAY

Flannel buddies!

And cowboy boots to complete the look.   Now I'm a legit Texan!

Happy (late) Holidays :)
