Happy Easter!
Sunday, April 24, 2011 § 0
Happy Easter to everyone out in the blogosphere. It's a wonderful, rainy day! Last night we had a storm so crazy that the wind alone ripped off a hunk of our fence. We had to make sure our dog didn't run into our neighbor's yard! Driving around today, we saw that we weren't the only ones that that had happened to, so I hope everyone's ok and that the damage isn't too severe.
To celebrate Easter as well as my cousin's birthday, we went over to her house and had a little soiree. My sister did my makeup, and she tried out a cat-eye using only eyeshadow and no liner, which I've only seen on celebs:
However, my sister's attempt was successful and made my eyes look awesome! I don't usually wear this much makeup so this was a nice change from the ordinary.
Thank ya, Molly!
DAY 26 (I listed day 22 twice. This is not Day 25, it's 26!): A list of things I'm thankful for:
1. My family (obviously)
2. My best friend, Shannon.
3. My yearbook crew
4. Whatever it is that's wrong with me that's taking me to Colorado instead of plunking me in a Texas school (or right with me)
5. Vampire Weekend and Ezra's sweet voice
(Thank you for blessing him with that voice, Lord)
6. And, last but not least, the fact that DanRad is still single.
Someone up there's saving him for me.
Have a wonderful Sunday,
Cooper

Day 19, Back from Austin.
Monday, April 11, 2011 § 0
Had a suprisingly good Monday! Here are some pictures from ILPC in Austin, just like I promised. A little something-something: everything yearbook entered won an award. And I won second place for best Clubs and Classes spread!
Done bragging. Here are the pictures:
(these first few were taken by one of our lovely yearbook photogs, Angela Dixon)

Thank you for your good humor and great pizza, Mellow Mushroom!
Oh, yeah. Those are bees.
I'm the one with the bag. Love that 'how are you' frog!
Being sassy in one of the nicest Starbucks I've ever been in. The people were nice, too. Thank ya, Starbucks!
Trying to get comfortable on the bus. It's not the easiest thing in the world.
Pictures by my crappy cell phone:
Look at all those turtles! In one of the many UT decorative ponds.
Ending this picture summary with some peace, love, and Johnny Cash.
Day 19: A sweet memory I have.
It was actually this summer. My mom, sister, and I decided to go on a 3-day girl's weekend in Galveston the weekend before school started up again. It's one of my most treasured vacations. I was sure we were going to be bickering the whole time, as sisters and mothers usually do without a Dad buffer (or at least that applies to us), but I guess there was something in the sea air that calmed all of us and let us have one of the best vacays we've had in a while. Galveston is so old and beautiful and charming and I loved every bit of it. Our hotel was right on the water and had a gorgeous view, and when we weren't swimming or grabbing a bite to eat, we were dancing to Hairspray in the hotel room or driving around downtown and looking at all the old houses. We're going to take another one this summer before I go to college, and I can't wait! Love my family.
Oh yeah, and I also got a hell of a tan. Check that out.
Happy Monday,
Cooper

Day 16 and a Day of Treats!

Day 16- Post (another?) picture of yourself.
Well, here I am!
Lovin' life, lovin' you!
I had a LONG day today. I had two tests- awful- and I spent the entire day confused as to whether it was Thursday or Friday. It's Wednesday.
Ok, so I figured it out. But I'm emphasizing how long it felt.
Afterwards, though, I got out of school early for an appointment and then the Mama and I stopped by James Avery to pick up my charm bracelet. Brown, my wonderful advisor, gave me a charm commemorating the end of the yearbook and I went to get it engraved.
When we got there and they brought the bracelet out, I noticed that there was another charm on it I didn't know about- a cute little old-fashioned camera with a film canister attached. It was such a sweet surprise! My mom said the little yearbook charm didn't look complete without the little camera charm. Such a sweet mommy.
After that, my mom had to take some dresses back and told me we could find my yearbook banquet dress. I HAVE NOW ARRIVED AT MY STORY'S POINT: I could not decide between two dresses, shown below. The one I loved was dark blue and had a poofy, short, ballerina-esque skirt, but was $200. I would never spend that much on a dress (wedding and prom dresses are different, mind you). Therefore, the final two were these lovely contenders:
DRESS #1
I'll admit, the dress doesn't look great in this picture. However, I'll have you know, it sits at my natural waist, has a full, pleated skirt, and an adorable '60s-esque bodice. Love it!
This one was great. Another full skirt (WITH POCKETS!), some kind of chiffon over the bodice with a triangle of beading down the middle. It's simple black, but looks great on me. Plus, I never wear black. It's a nice change.
AND THE WINNER IS......
The black dress! My mom and I both agreed that it's best for partying the night away. I can do my hair however, and it will still look amazing. So excited to wear it!
The Sonic shake afterwards was the perfect end to a perfect evening with my mom. I love spending time with her. Thank ya, mom!
Have a lovely Wednesday night,
Cooper

Day 8. It's the fashion show!
Saturday, March 26, 2011 § 0
Today, I embraced my inner Gisele and Tyra and walked the catwalk for my sister's Fashion Merchandising runway show. I was nervous at first, but ended up having a blast. And something I realized? I'm just a tad fierce.
I'll post some photos of the show tomorrow, but for tonight, I'll post my Day 8 blogger challenge.
Short term goals for this month:
1. Pay for everything I need to pay for: yearbook banquet, ILPC attendance money, Colorado State deposit, etc.
2. Sign up for Freshman Orientation. (This is sounding more like a to-do list).
3. Find time to read what I want! I'm always too busy procrastinating or sitting in front of the TV. Once I learn better time management, I'll have more time for leisurely reading.
4. Have a just-for-me night. A night spent by myself, where I'll make a nice dinner for myself and watch whatever I want...by myself. Just one night, though, because then I'll get lonely.
5. Finish a homework assignment earlier than 10:00 pm? God, I'm such a teenager when it comes to homework.
And that's it for now! It's actually good to see all my goals laid out in front of me, almost like a checklist. It's very helpful!
Pictures to come tomorrow,

Day 7. AND a solo road trip!
Friday, March 25, 2011 § 0
I've been telling everyone it's a road trip, but in actuality it only took me about 20 minutes to drive to my sister's apartment in Denton. I guess it felt like a road trip since A) I had to use the GPS, B) I was flyin' solo, and C) Highway 35 has a very deserted, road-trip-y feel. It was fun. After all, my GPS only toppled down from the window twice (the first time I had to pull over to fix it, and the second time I had to fix it while driving my car 75 miles an hour with only my knees used to steer). I felt like such a college kid, drivin' back to my college town. Only when I really drive to my college town, it's going to take a lot longer than 20 minutes to get there (try 18 hours).
I meant to take a picture of me driving and post it, all road-y and fun, but I forgot. As a substitute, I will post my road trip playlist that got me here without wanting to pull my hair out. Here it is:
1. Cherry Bomb- The Runaways
(a little badass-ery to start my trip out right)
2. Gotta Reason- Hard-FI
(It's so upbeat and fun. There's no way I wasn't shakin' a shoulder or bobbing my head. This song is downright CATCHY)
3. Fans- Kings of Leon
(This is my all-time favorite KOL song. When they played it at the concert I attended, I nearly dropped dead. It reminds me of barbeques and summertime and sunglasses and late afternoon. I love it.)
4. Someone Like You- Adele
(Such a sad song, about how someone she loved has a great life now and is married and all that jazz. Don't worry, Adele, you'll find someone like him!)
5. How- Maroon 5
(This is such a cliche love song, but I love cliched love songs so that's GREAT. It's wonderful.)
As for the person or event that has affected me the most, I guess I'd have to say Natalie Brown.

My yearbook advisor, the only one that kept me absolutely sane this year. When I was in her Journalism 1 class, I did not want to be a journalist or be involved or any sort of student journalism for the next four years of my high school career. However, I was pushed into yearbook and, because of her amazing leadership, decided that journalism and becoming a writer was what I wanted to do with my life. She's the one that got me there!
Tomorrow I'm modeling in my sister's college's big Merchandising fashion show. My sister's dressing her models up as plants, and I'm the hibiscus flower. So excited! I will post pictures of my fierce walk.
Or my fierce topple off of the stage.
Happy Friday,
Cooper

Finally! IT'S DONE!
Friday, March 11, 2011 § 0
The yearbook, not my 30 for 30. However, I am close to being done, with only two outfits left to go!!!
You heard me right- the yearbook is finally completely finished. The book's gone by so fast, but I'm so proud of what it's become and equally proud of my staff. Most of them.
From left to right: Bri, student activities editor, Mickey, photo editor, Skyler, last year's editor in chief, and me, this year's editor in chief!
So glad she could come for the submission of the book. She made it ten times more special.
My mentor, my rock, pretty much the smartest and greatest person ever...my advisor, Brownie.
WE DID IT!

Another crazy day.
Thursday, March 10, 2011 § 0
And with the yearbook due in one day, how could it not be? We've all been running around like chickens with our heads cut off, but chickens that know about journalism and are damn good at it, too. So, I guess chicken bodies with smarts?
It's yearbook week. I don't have to make sense.
My 30 for 30 is winding down, and I must say, I've learned a few things.
1. I love me some pants. I used to think that all I ever wanted to wear were skirts, but I love me some pantalones. It's become obvious.
2. I wear a lot of very similar colors. Black, reds, blues, neutrals. I gotta get some pink into my wardrobe.
3. I need more nude colored flats. Ones that aren't high-heeled. I'm going to college soon, for heaven's sakes.
4. And lastly, that it actually is possible for me to get creative with my outfits. I'm...*sniff*..so proud of myself.
Moment over. Back to stressing.
So long!
Cooper

IT'S YEARBOOK DAY
Tuesday, March 8, 2011 § 0
Today was a rather crazy day. The entire yearbook is due on Friday and we've still got a million and one things to do. Brown got all of the editors out of class today so we could park our boo-tangs in front of the giant computer screens and stay there until at least a million and one things got done.
It's a crazy week. It's a crazy day. I just can't wait for it all to be over and for me to be in the car, heading down to the farm for Spring break, knowing that I don't have to stress my head off anymore.
On the bright side, I'm halfway through my remix. Yipee!!! I mean, just look at how happy I am:
Happy Tuesday,
Cooper
