It's that kind of day.

I finally get to take my polka dot swing skirt out of hiding.
Which means t's a lovely day.
Happy Monday,

Prom 3.0
Monday, April 2, 2012 § 0
Let me just get this out in the open: I don't harp on life in high school. I don't miss the crowded halls, the classes, the cafeteria, the TAKS test, or the assemblies. However, now that prom season is coming up for the wee juniors and seniors, I think back to when I was going to prom.
Sometimes I regret that yellow dress, even though now that I look back on it, it is pretty damn classy. The only thing I wish I had done is this: worn a different sash, and put my hair in a low bun.
As for the blue dress, that was my favorite dress in the whole world. However, it wasn't perfect: the people that were supposed to alter it for me did it wrong and therefore, it almost didn't fit me at all. My dad fixed it with a ribbon in the back, but the dress still pinched and prodded and HURT. Also, I had strep that night, which sucked. Otherwise, that dress was perfect.
I was thinking about it, and going through one of my fave vintage dress websites, and I was wondering how much my style has changed within the year. I was wondering, to get to my point, what I would wear if I could do prom again, this year. Here's what I've come up with!
Emma Domb Baby Pink Prom Dress (Unique-vintage.com)
It's pink. It's lace. It's vintage-inspired. In other words, it's absolutely gorgeous. Can you just imagine this thing floating across the dance floor to something slow, while a preppie in a varsity jacket holds you tight in his arms? Because I can. I LAHV IT.
Dress Gallery Jade Long Dress (Asos.com)
Ohmygodthisdress. It's magnificent. First of all, those flutter sleeves: the perfect addition to this form-fitting beaut. And then there's the enormous cutout in the back (sorry, don't have a picture of that) that keeps the dress from being too conservative. And to top it all off, it's velvet. Don't roll your eyes at me, young lady..I know most of you guys wouldn't touch velvet with a 39 and a half foot pole, but I don't see anything wrong with it. It's elegant. It's comfortable. AND THIS DRESS IS DAMN BEAUTIFUL.
Faviana Embellished One-shoulder Gown (Nordstrom.com)
I love this dress because it reminds me of Drew Barrymore's golden globes gown from way back when. I LOVE beige for gowns because it always looks so classic and fresh at the same time. I also adore the way this model is styled: bright pink lips, low, messy chignon, and no jewelery. You don't need it with a dress like this, honestly.
Badgley Mischka Platinum Label (Bluefly.com)
This is one of those dresses that just catches your eye immediately. As you probably can already see, I love ruffles (see blue prom dress above) and this dress is so fun and fresh and yet elegant at the same time. I see a braided updo with this baby.
And if the world were a just and kind place, and money rained from the heavens and into my wallet, then I would wear Valentino to the prom.
Oh, goodness, what a dream.
I don't regret the dresses I wore, since I had so much fun in them. Sometimes, though, I just wish I could do prom all over again since I feel like my style has changed so much.
Good luck to all the prom-goers this year and have a blast with your friends- that's honestly all that matters!
Arrivederci,
Madi
Miss Molly Style.
Tuesday, March 6, 2012 § 0
So you should all go check out my sister's style blog, Miss Molly Style. Not only is she a fashion genius, but I made a guest appearance this week as her stylish sister. Hooray for nepotism!
To see the rest of the outfit, click on the link to my sister's blog above.
As for me, I'm going to go crawl in a hole (my dorm) and finish this torture (all the fracking homework I have this week) so I can be stress-free as soon as possible.
So long,
Cooper
Oscar Favorites.
Monday, February 27, 2012 § 0
I always have a hard time picking my absolute number one favorite dress, but I think it's a tossup between these three lovelies:
Rooney Mara, SUCH a classy character. Rooney only wears black and white, and it's usually black, so I love that she chose white for the Oscars. Totally contrasts with that gorgeous inky black hair.
The minute Molly and I saw Jessica Chastain in this dress, we both started screaming 'MCQUEEN! MCQUEEN!' because we just knew. I'm so glad she went soft with her hair, too...it's simple but it goes perfectly with this dress. LOVE.
Who on God's good Earth could dislike something this gorgeous? I had high hopes for Michelle, because she's one of my fashion icons, and she did not disappoint. Peplum= AMAZING. Instant classic.
Here are some of my other loves of the night:
Okay, CANNOT get over this adorable vintage Dior polka dot dress...but Natalie, girl, what's with that hair? The hair just ruined the entire ensemble for me. It's pretty and all, but does not go with the dress. She needs a braided chignon or a high bun or something. I just felt bad for that beautiful dress.
Always classic, always gorgeous, the lovely Emma Stone, everybody. I love her and will love anything she ever chooses to wear, but after seeing this, I (along with the rest of the blogosphere) could not get Nicole Kidman's 2007 Balenciaga stunner out of my mind. Same red hue, same neck bow...Emma, girl, I wanted something crazy original! It's still a gorgeous dress on a gorgeous woman, but your oscar gown is not supposed to bring gowns from years past to mind!! Well, there's always next year...
All right, I know she's not really a starlet or anything but this Giuliana pretty much brought it yesterday. This gown is stunning. Maybe a half-updo would have looked better, but still, girl....WURK
And of course, my queen, my goddess, the light of my life...Mrs. Meryl Streep, everyone. The moment I saw her, I was like, "there's no way she's not winning an Oscar DRESSED like an Oscar. It just must happen." AND IT DID. I pretty much did a victory dance all over my dorm when she won. P.S., her acceptance speech was the most adorable thing to ever grace this planet Earth. Just saying. Streeping hardcore over here.
My favorite moments of the night: when The Artist won best director, best score, Jean DuJardin for Best Actor and then BEST EFFING PICTURE (a title the movie so rightly deserves). When the Streep won Best Actress...when Plummer won Best Supporting Actor for the first time in his 82 years (when he said "You're only two years older than me, darling, where have you been all my life?" I was pretty much sobbing out of joy)...when Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy did a 'Scorsese' shot....When the Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore won for Best Animated Short (I'm pretty sure I pulled a hamstring for all the victory dancing I did for that one)....Emma Stone's adorable presenter speech....loved it all. All of it.
I love the Oscars, people. Love 'em.
Au revoir,
Cooper
They're out of order, but I'm thinking you probably don't care.

My latest 'photo a day' photos:
Someone I love: Sarah Dessen. She totally knows how to tap into my teen angst-y side.
Reflection: Gotta get those brows waxed.
Sweet: DELISH gummies the fam sent to me in a Valentine's day care package.
Shoes: there's a pile of 'em on the floor right now.
Until tomorrow,

Photo a day BONANZA
Wednesday, February 8, 2012 § 0
Because I've been (shamefully) neglecting my blog for the past few days, I've forgotten to post my photo a day pictures. So here's the rest of them so far:
DAY 4
Letterbox of a letter. Yes, I was trying to be clever. It did not work so well.
DAY 5
Something I wore. This lovely shade of red glitter nail polish that, after taking this photo, I ruined by trying to put on a pair of new shoes. Just wait for the nails to dry, Self!!!
DAY 6
Makes me smile: My absolutely generous roomie, who bought this for me. So sweet.
DAY 7
Favorite: Fave hairstyle, ever, will always be maiden braids. It keeps my hair out of my face and also looks incredibly adorable. I'm in love.
And today's photo of the day is.....going to be posted later on because I haven't done it yet.
I'M SO ORGANIZED
Also, I've got a new vlog out, so click the 'My Vlog' link on the top right corner to check it out.
Byeeeeeeeeeee,
Cooper (that wasn't obnoxious at all)
What the hell am I wearing right now?
Tuesday, January 31, 2012 § 0
That's right. After spending my entire high school existence silently lecturing girls for wearing leggings as pants, I have contradicted myself.
But they're just so damn COMFORTABLE. And I promise you, I only wear them to the dining hall. That's my leggings radius.
I think I redeemed myself, though. Today I bought the CUTEST oxfords on eBay:
I'm obsessed with that tiny heel. I can't wait to get them in.
Well, tonight, I've got quite the exciting night planned. I've got to finish my FAFSA and my Astronomy homework, and then maybe (just maybe) I'll eat some Skinny Cow dreamy clusters.
Au revoir,
Cooper
Blazer.
Wednesday, January 25, 2012 § 1
As you probably already realized from my last blog post, I absolutely loved Ginnifer Goodwin's outfits on Sunday night's episode of Once Upon a Time, especially this one:
BUT sadly I realized that I don't own any adorable blazers (the only blazers I do have are at home in Texas, grrr). So what did I do, you ask? Well, I scoured the local Goodwill on a Wednesday night for some finds, and boy did I find things. The Goodwill near my school is so amazing, probably because all the cool college kids drop off their old digs, and I ended up finding an adorable long blazer in a similar camel color:
Here's the deal: first of all, it's got shoulder pads (which my sister says I should keep in but I'm not so sure) and second of all, where's my elbow patches??? It looks like I'm going to have to sew them on myself but to me, that sounds like a perfect weekend project.
I am just LOVIN on Goodwill tonight. I even found a 'j'adore Paris' t-shirt in the men's section for a dollar. AWESOME.
Have a smashing night,
Cooper
The hat.
Tuesday, January 24, 2012 § 0
My friend Rose knit me this hat over the weekend. We joke about it being the 'pot' hat because the yarn I picked out has all these green fuzzies, so it basically looks like I'm wearing mary jane.
Stoner hat or not, I still love it. Plus, ever since Sunday night's episode of Once Upon a Time when Ginnifer Goodwin rocked the pixie cut + beanie look pretty much the entire episode:
...I've been tucking my hair into my beanie. It's like a faux pixie cut; totally a fun look to rock.
Have a great Tuesday night!

Battle of the Glasses.
Monday, January 23, 2012 § 0
It surprises me how much I actually waste time thinking about it, but I do....glasses, or no glasses?
Only someone who wears frames really understands the battle us four-eyed females have with our most important accessory. Every morning when I get up I ask myself, 'Is today a glasses day?'. On special days, like for example, my first day of college, one of the first things I decided was, 'Okay, I'm not wearing glasses today. I want people to notice me without them.'
For me at least, it's like having a mole on your back or a scar on your knee- you don't want to show it until people really know you. I've recently climbed out of my glasses-shell and have gotten more and more comfortable with wearing them in public. It's not like I think they're ugly or anything, but I wonder if they change the way people look at me...do they make me more or less approachable? Do they make me more or less attractive to the opposite sex?
I guess this kind of problem is pretty narcissistic, but I would be lying if I said I never thought about it.
Anyone else have this dilemma?
Have a smashing day,
Cooper

Today I went to Forever 21. Yesterday I went to Forever 21. Yeah, I would say that I'm obsessed.
A little tip if you've never been there- you HAVE to have a plan! The first day I went in not knowing what I want and therefore I bought something completely out of the ordinary- a hat! It became a treat 'choself day (cue Donna from Parks and Recreation), meaning that I bought that hat without feeling guilty about it. Yep. Deal with it, self.

I actually LOVE it. I want to wear it all the time, even with my PJs. In fact, I think I'll go put it on now.
And then today, I tried something on as a joke and ended up buying it because I felt so ethereal in it. It's a white asymmetrical dress, and it's a little bit sheer so I'll have to wear a slip...but it's something I'm having second thoughts about because I'm not sure if I can dress it down or not!
We'll see. Have a merry, merry Thursday!
AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Sunday, January 1, 2012 § 0
I'm finally all caught up with my events! New Year's was last night (and an auld lang syne to you too, if that makes any sense), and here's what I decided to wear:
And voila! A look complete for a wonderful new year's.
HAPPY 2012!
So I noticed I'm not doing too well at this whole blogging thing...
Sunday, November 13, 2011 § 1
It's because I've been so busy, I promise. In fact, I've been having quite a battle with a beautiful pair of green jeans:
Enjoy, and have a happy week! I, for one, cannot wait for Thursday to come...that's when I leave for home and get to see my family for the first time in nearly three months. YAY!
Adieu,
Cooper
Ordering these online has been a total bitch and, let me tell you something: I do not entirely enjoy being on hold by the Forever 21 representatives for more than 15 minutes. 15 fricking minutes!!!
I just really want to wear these on the plane ride home, so I was a bit snippy to a customer service representative named Joseph (sorry again, Joseph), but they FINALLY shipped so hopefully the battle is over.
In other news, the Collegian posted another one of my dorm life videos and so I thought I'd post it here for you guys to check out:

I got a grandpa sweater from Plato's Closet the other day and it is quite magnificent...
Sweater: Old Navy (Plato's Closet) Shirt: Wal-mart Jeans: Target Shoes: Forever 21
Sorry for the tiny size and the fact that I took one of those terrible mirror pics, but just admire the outfit, okay? I was quite proud of it. And I loved breaking out my oxfords after they spend weeks in my closet. They even make that fun little tapping noise when I walk. LOVE.
Hope everyone's Thursday is going splendidly. I have to go study for a test now (blergh)
Until later (because my posts have been really sporadic lately),
Cooper
Throwback...
Tuesday, October 25, 2011 § 0
So I'm going to a murder mystery party on Friday, and we get to dress up. There's actually a costume contest! Because of this, me and my friends hit up the good ol' Goodwill and I found this little number:
It's an old fashioned, top-notch tam and I'm going to wear it with my costume. I found this gorgeous, long yellow chiffon dress and a white knit shawl and it's going to be great.
I'll be sure to post pictures this Friday, for sure.
By the way, tomorrow it's supposed to snow 10 inches. I love Colorado.
the denim on denim QUEEN
Wednesday, October 5, 2011 § 2
That's what I told my roommate the other day: I am officially the denim on denim queen.
On Monday, I wore my denim shirt buttoned up with a scarf and my skinny black jeans, and then today I wore this little number:

IT'S MY FAVORITE COMBO, OKAY?
Try it out. It feels good.
Adios,

The secondhand stores of Fort Collins made my heart absolutely melt today. You'll never believe what I found at Plato's Closet:
It's a plaid J. Crew miniskirt! I'm loving it's mod vibe.
I'm thinking of pairing it with a blazer and my riding boots.
Jumping for joy for this lovely skirt!!
And of course, we had to stop by Goodwill for some grandma sweaters and I picked up this little number:
Although I think this qualifies as a grandpa sweater, since I found it in the men's section. Either way, it's comfy and striped. I love stripes.
I LOVE thrift stores. I'll be doing this again.

It's a fashion post! WOOHOO!
Here's some of my latest outfits from my first few weeks of college that I'd like to share:
Enjoy :)

Yes, those are maiden braids. I love them so much.
Too lazy to get out my camera, as you can see, but that's some denim on denim action paired with some oxfords right there.
And here's my first vlog relating to this very topic:
Enjoy :)
hummingbird and how cooper got her groove back.
Tuesday, August 30, 2011 § 0
Remember that sweet little hummingbird I mentioned in this post? Well, before I left for CSU, I snapped some shots of her peeking her little head out of her nest on my camera.
Isn't she magnificent?
I don't think she's in the tree in front of our house anymore. When I left for college, her nest was dry and empty and she was nowhere to be found. Maybe she moved on to greener...er...trees? And is this some sort of extended metaphor someone up top is trying to give me?
Part 2 of this post; or, the part where I detail the events leading up to me slowly regaining my sense of style back after a week of fashion flops...
Ok, so they haven't been entire flops, but with the stress of being in an entirely new city all alone and having to transition from a blissful summer to days packed with unfamiliar classes, faces, and professors, fashion has gone on the back burner. I've been wearing rolled up jeans with flats and v necks, and things tucked in to other things hastily and hair pinned back in quick ballerina buns... It's been all right, and just all right. So finally, I made a promise to myself that I would put in a little more effort.
And after seeing this picture on Tumblr:
...I set out to recreate it, my way. And here's the result:
Cardigan: American Eagle; Blouse: Forever 21; shorts: Delia's; belt: JC Penney
My apologies for the absolute dewiness of the picture; in my defense, it was taken at 10:00 in the morning and I hadn't yet applied my makeup for the day.
But that's the outfit! I was awfully proud of it. It gave me hope that maybe; just maybe I'm getting a little bit better at balancing this whole college/fashion scale.
Until tomorrow,
Cooper
