My mom is fantastic.

And she's here.  FINALLY!

I honestly did not realize just how much I've missed her until I got to the airport- I made a sign on the back of this sheet of paper that said 'Mrs. Foxy Mama' and prepared to hold it up when she came near.

I ended up standing in the wrong place, so I had to go search for her and found her at baggage claim.  I literally ran up to her and we hugged, and of course, we both started bawling.  It was the best moment ever.

Afterwards, my GPS went on the fritz and we were talking so much that we didn't notice that we had been driving an hour south of Denver....when Fort Collins is north of Denver.  Oh, lord.  We had a nice, impromptu road trip of bonding and catching up.

So, we didn't end up back in Fort Collins until around 10:00, and had a lovely dinner at iHop.  We then returned to the hotel and, exhausted from my stupidity, fell right asleep.

I'm so excited to spend the weekend with her.  Anyone who knows me knows I'm incredibly close with my parents, so this weekend it's going to be good to have her around after over a month away!!!

My sister is great.

Everybody please watch my sister be adorable and teach people how to be gorgeous.  She's so great, and so is her vlog.  SO FOLLOW IT OKAY?

Speaking of vlogs, remember my last post? When I mentioned that the Freshman blog advisor was going to meet with me to see if I wanted to do my vlog regularly?

Well, on Friday he took me and the Collegian's blogs editor out for pizza and they talked to me about making this vlog weekly and eventually doing other topics besides dorm life.  Basically, I might get my own, seperate, Collegian vlog.

I am so excited- I can't believe they liked my videos that much and it means so much to me that they'd actually like to work with me on this.

It's surreal, and it's great, and I just can't believe it's all happening so fast.  I love CSU, and I love this September, and I love Fall.  I love, love, love.

Next week, my mom's coming in from Texas and I'll be sure to take tons of pictures of our tons-o-fun girl's weekend together.  I absolutely cannot wait to see her.  It's been a month!!! That's crazy!!!

Until later,
Cooper

It's for real!!!

A video of me acting incredibly ridiculous (click here to experience the magic) was published on a website, for real people to look at and laugh at me being completely ridiculous.

And now, according to my advisor, I may be doing it regularly.  Geesh.

Here's proof for all you non-believers out there:

Oh God.  The screencap just had to be of me lifting up my sweater.

I'm going to go huddle in a ball of self disgust now.  Just kidding.  I'm actually really excited.

So long,
Cooper

The fashionista in me rejoices.

The secondhand stores of Fort Collins made my heart absolutely melt today.  You'll never believe what I found at Plato's Closet:

It's a plaid J. Crew miniskirt! I'm loving it's mod vibe.

I'm thinking of pairing it with a blazer and my riding boots.

Jumping for joy for this lovely skirt!!

And of course, we had to stop by Goodwill for some grandma sweaters and I picked up this little number:

Although I think this qualifies as a grandpa sweater, since I found it in the men's section.  Either way, it's comfy and striped.  I love stripes.

I LOVE thrift stores.  I'll be doing this again.

Adieu,
Cooper

JUST KISS ALREADY.

Let me tell you something- on a college campus, couples spring up like WEEDS within the first few weeks.  So you can see just why I'm in that teenage-girl state of mind right now- reading romantic fiction and watching wonderful, sappy movies.

It's love, and it's grand, folks!  Whenever I'm in this sort of mood I always watch the best romantic movies- and sure, I'll break out The Notebook from time to time, but I like the ones with those understated moments of romance...the ones with other, bigger plot lines, but adorable love stories hidden in the folds of the movie.  Those love stories, in my opinion, are so much more lovely.

Here are some of my favorite clips from some great movies proving my point.

Stranger Than Fiction: Flours

Maggie Gyllenhall is a baker, and Will Ferrel brings her flours.  FLOURS.  This is so darn sweet, and the random inputtings of 'I want you' are hilarious.

Big Fish: Circus Scene

This has got to be one of the most beautiful moments in film history.  I love Ewen's face throughout this whole scene; it's longing and mystification and all that great stuff.  And the concept of time, how it stops but then starts up again, super fast, is kind of brilliant.   I just love how he's stepping around things, pushing popcorn out of the way, ducking through a hoop....so lovely.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides: 'She has a name'

I'm going to be honest with you, I've never much been a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.  However, I love mermaids and adventures and all that sort of thing, so I went to see the fourth one and could not help but SWOON at this side romance.  It's incredibly sweet.

Amelie: Meeting Nino

I could not make a list like this and leave out Amelie and Nino.  Obviously they're kindred spirits.

Let me know what you like to watch when you're in a lovey-dovey mood!  I'm curious.

Until tomorrow,
Cooper

Dorm life.

Monday, September 12, 2011 § 2

So I have to do a blog (a different blog) for my media based first year mentoring group for the university, and I've decided to do videos.

Yeah, because my first one went so well.....  No worries, this one is much shorter and BETTER.  It includes dancing and chunky sweaters, and in the second one I dance while eating food.

So pretty much just a whole lot of dancing.

Here's the first one:

And the second:

Enjoy dorm living, folks. I'll be sure to post a link to my first CSU blog post when they get put up :)

WALK, WALK FASHION BABY

Friday, September 9, 2011 § 3

It's a fashion post!  WOOHOO!

Here's some of my latest outfits from my first few weeks of college that I'd like to share:

Yes, those are maiden braids.  I love them so much.

Too lazy to get out my camera, as you can see, but that's some denim on denim action paired with some oxfords right there.

And here's my first vlog relating to this very topic:

Enjoy :)

Filmography 2010

Thursday, September 8, 2011 § 0

I found this video on Tumblr (where I always seem to find my videos) and it chronicles a ton of movies made or released in 2010 and shows clips of them montaged together, set to music.

Wow, that was a horrible description.  Just watch the video and be thankful that people are creative enough to make these little things called feature films.

My town is so cute.

Cafe Ardour.

SO good.  Garlic bagel with cream cheese and a cherry italian soda on the side.

Oh, my hair was a mess (I'm on the right, roomie's on the left) but I still had a lovely time in Old Town this labor day.  Coffee-shop hopping and reading and thrift store browsing was the perfect way to spend the Monday.

Hope your labor day was equally wonderful!

Arrivederci,
Cooper

September's come, and with it, a plethora of changes.

Friday, September 2, 2011 § 0

Well, I went ahead and took the plunge, and I applied to be a web reporter for the university magazine here.  I wasn't sure exactly what was going to happen- maybe a request for me to turn in my application from the editor, maybe no response back for a while.

But the editor emailed me, asking for an interview! So I did, and I got the job.

You may be thinking 'well done', or maybe 'jolly good' (I don't know where you live), and believe me, I was at first, too!

And then I went to the all-staff meeting and got so damn stressed.  It seems like everyone already knows what they're doing and is incredibly seasoned at it, too.  It's not terribly different from when I was on yearbook, except for the amount of publications you make and the frequency of deadlines is a little bit higher, and yet I'm still stressed out the max.

I keep telling myself that this is exactly what I felt like when I was a lowly sophomore on the yearbook staff, my first year as a writer.  I had no clue what was going on and I didn't always like being on the staff.  But at least there were others that were just as clueless as I was!  Here, it's only me and two other girls.  Crazy.

I just don't fit in with the staff yet and I don't know the ropes of the whole operation, and that terrifies me.  I'm so used to running in and out of the yearbook room when I was in high school and having a solid place where I belong on the campus, and now I feel that I've tried way too hard to get that  back.

I'm probably overreacting, like always, and it will most likely get easier for me as time goes on.  However, for now, it's terrifying, and I'm terrified, and I keep chanting inspirational phrases in my head like a mantra.

On a brighter note, I'm going to go see My Idiot Brother tomorrow with some new friends of mine.  I'm excited!  Here's the trailer, for those of you that aren't familiar with the movie:

I'll update you on the movie after I've seen it, but my sister already told me I'd like it, and I think I trust her judgement.

Enjoy labor day weekend,
Cooper
